One Year Anniversary!!

Well, it's official, Josh and I have been married for one whole year!! We had our One Year Anniversary on May 12th. I took the day off of work (which was wonderful in itself, I haven't had a day off since February and that was so we could move. . .not really relaxing and fun.) Anyway, Josh let me sleep in (wonderful) and then I got up and went to the store to get his present and to allow him some time so that he could set up the house. When I got back he made me close my eyes and led me into the living room. When I opened them there was a brand new coffee table!! We have been wanting a new coffee table since. . .we got married. The one we have I got for free on the side of the road and it's brown and has wheels with a glass table top that is impossible to keep clean. It's super ghetto. For some reason when we got married everything that we ended up with is black and silver, all except for my old beat up brown coffee table. Anyway, I picked one out at Wal*Mart months ago, but we didn't have the money to get it then. Josh remembered which one it was and had to special order it and then hide it in our apartment until he could build it for our anniversary. How thoughtful and sweet. I felt old that I was so excited about getting a coffee table, but it was a really great present! Thoughtful and functional! Plus on top of the table he had a bouquet of flowers, 2 cards, and 2 Disney Princess cups (Belle and Cinderella)!! I was so excited! Then he took me into the bedroom where he had set up a spa atmosphere. Bamboo lights, soft music with nature sounds, and even a pillow sent!! :-) He gave me a massage which was much needed and totally wonderful! Then we went out to eat at the restaurant of my choice. . .which was of course Qdoba! Yumm!! I love walking around downtown Fort Worth, so we went to the one downtown then we went into Barnes and Noble and read children's books (one of my all time favorite activities). Then we went to see Maid of Honor, which was the perfect movie for us. It was wedding themed, romantic comedy, funny and sweet, totally perfect. Then we went to the Parks mall because Josh said he had a surprise to show me. We get there and go to the Disney Store and in the back they have these totally awesome snow globes. They were on sale for 50% off and Josh told me to pick my favorite one!! We got the biggest one (of course) with Fantasia Mickey on the inside of the snow globe and a ton of characters around the base. The ones that I can remember are the Genie from Aladdin, Alice (in wonderland) along with the Cheshire Cat, Beauty and the Beast (of course, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten it and Belle is the only princess on there!!), Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Dopey, Bambi, Jimminey Cricket, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, and there are more that I can't think of right now!! It is super cool, it lights up and plays, never had a friend like me from Aladdin. What a wonderful, thoughtful, considerate, sweet husband I have!! The best part of the day was getting to spend the whole day just having fun and laughing together. I love that my husband is also my best friend!! We went home and worshipped together for a bit before we cleaned up and went to a nice dinner at Outback Steakhouse. Super fun! Then we went home and watched my favorite parts of Curious George before we drifted off to sleep. Ahh, the perfect day! :-)
PS. Beth, I totally wore my tiara downtown to eat and watch the movie!! Just watch one day Josh will come home and I'll be vacuuming in my wedding dress. . .when I can fit into it again. . .

Lutheran Haircut

What a funny man I married! We decided it was time for haircuts. Actually the whole family went to get various beauty maintenance done. We were deciding what style Josh's hair needed to be and at the same time we were catching Ginger (our wonderful beautifier) up on our lives. Well, we were going to interview at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church the next week and so we decided that Josh needed a "Lutheran haircut" (his hair looked more like ragged beach bum before). So this pic is Josh being "excited" about getting his Lutheran haircut!! I love the purple clippy in his hair!

The Deck

So my Dad is building a deck in the backyard. We used to have a deck. Then they built the sunroom on top of where the deck used to be and now they are building a deck out from the sunroom. It really is quite an extensive process and a ton of work. He started with a design and a plan and then started deviating and making his own plan and now he's just winging it. But I think it looks great!! I'm really excited to see how it turns out. They are thinking about getting a pool too! That would be awesome! I love to swim, always have, and I'm glad that my apartment complex has two pools! But there's something about having a pool in your backyard that makes life more fun and relaxing. I can't wait to sip sweet tea and sunbathe on the new deck (hopefully it will be this summer!!) :-) Keep up the good work Dad!! I'm proud of you!

Putt Putt Date Night!

Josh and I went on date night to Putt Putt Golf and Games (where it's a "hole" lot of fun!!) and had a blast!! I learned that I am the biggest cheater ever! :-) But I have a good man that lets me cheat and still have fun! He is actually quite good at Putt Putt. I think it was that one hole where he got like a 17 that killed him! :-) Poor kid! Those darn holes that they put on the uphill slopes! Anyway, it was super fun. Our super happy excited picture is when we both scored a hole in one on the same hole!! That was cool!
We got a ton of tokens (they were having some special) and we got a million tickets. We both hit the jackpot on those things where you put in a token and where ever it lands you get that many tickets or the jackpot. JACKPOT!!! It was awesome! On one thing we got like 800 tickets and on another like 200! There was also this jumping game where you stood on a pad and had to jump over the lights as they got to the bottom. The longer your in the more tickets you get, but the faster the lights go around. It was really hard. We got as close as you could get to the jackpot, but we never got it. Man were we exhausted by the end of that game. I was out of breath and sweating. . .but it was so fun! I couldn't stop. That's what I realized about the game, by the time you figure out how to play it you're so exhausted that there is no way that you could ever make it all the way to the jackpot. The game people are smart. We both got these cool plastic cups with swirly straws! :-) Josh did the batting cages too and realized that he is officially getting old because the baseball one was too fast and the softball cage was just right. :-) It really blesses me to get to go out and laugh with my husband and be silly and have fun. He's my best friend and it's moments like that when I am reminded how truly blessed I am.

Acquire the Fire

We went to Aquire the Fire this year with Heritage as youth leaders. It was fun and really an interesting experience. It's weird to transition out of the youth scene and into the "old and washed up" group of people that think the music is too loud and that the youth population is totally immature (umm. . .totally me, If I saw one more paper airplane, I swear I would have strangled that kid). You can see from the picture, there were tons of people there! I think like 14.000 or something ridiculous like that. It was the "Battle Cry" event and those evidently are more popular. It was very commercial though. Not so much the desperate crying out to God that I had expected. Our youth group doesn't even understand that concept anyway. Josh and I went to the youth leaders meeting and David Crowder came and greeted all of us. That was really cool. He totally looks like a goat, but he sure writes good music!! :-) My favorite part of his concert was when he played the guitar hero guitar! That was awesome. Evidently one of his band members rigged it up so that it plugs into a laptop and it works like a real guitar only with like three chord options. David Crowder actually plays it for a whole song! That was cool!

"Miles" of Fun

I don't quite know how I became such a big part of these children's lives, but I am so grateful!! Hope is my little princess and those boys are just about the cutest kiddos you could ask for. These kids can totally serve as my surrogate children until I get some of my own. Gator (the other one with me) won my heart a long time ago. Cade is just growing up to be cuter and cuter. Right now they are wearing out my husband because he is keeping the kiddos for Susan (a job I know all too well). He has been coming home totally exhausted! I think it's wonderful because as we approach our one year he has been dropping hints about kids. . .well maybe after a couple of weeks with those three he'll have a better idea of what it takes. We have what it takes inside of us somewhere, but I think it's going to take a little longer for it to surface. :-)

My Geda

This weekend we met my family for some quality time! What fun the Lengyel clan is!! We are one card playing bunch!! We all went to my brother's baseball game. The Braves, bless their poor little hearts. They are trying so hard and it always seems like we are going to pull out a game and then a little bobble here or an unfortunate hit there and it's over. Another loss.
Anyway, this week my grandfather is visiting to take care of my brother while my parents are on a little vacation. I love my Geda. We have had lots of rounds of card games and various fun activities since his arrival. There's nothing like Texas in spring. Those perfect sunny days (before the sweltering heat hits) where you just want to be outside. We have been to baseball games and on walks, jumped on the trampoline (well Geda just watched that one) and had fun being together. Those Lengyel/Miller men play Cribbage like there's no tomorrow. Josh loves it because it's all math (which is exactly why I don't ever play. . .15 one, 15 two, and a pair is 6. . .no thanks! :O) Geda and my parents went to the Forum Dillards where everything is marked down at least 75%! That was one of Bubba's favorite activities and I guess they thought they would keep up the tradition. Geda got some great shirts for like $6.00! You can't beat that! My personal favorite part of the visit was Taco Night! Yeah for Gedas!

Busted Glass

So, recently my car was broken into. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before. You just expect that your belongings will be as you left them. For years that's how it's been. I got up just like any other morning, only to go downstairs and discover that my backseat driver's side window was smashed in and my cd player was gone. Not the part of the window that rolls up and down, but the little triangle part behind that. The thief, bandits, jerkfaces, whatever you want to call them, were really experienced. They busted the window and got in that way and just popped my dashboard face of and got the stereo. That thing was my present for High School graduation. I mean I've had it since 2003, how much are they really going to get for it.
Anyway, so I called the police and totally expected them to rush out there all concerned and mark off the crime scene with the yellow caution tape, dust for finger prints, question my neighbors, you know the whole nine yards. No such luck. A fairly disinterested policeman came and wrote down what happened in this mini-journal and that was it. I went about my day.
I am thankful though. Thankful that they didn't steal my whole car. Thankful that they didn't take anything else, like my checkbook that was sitting in plain sight. I'm thankful the the glass people fixed the window that same day and that the insurance company is going to buy me a new cd player (if I can ever get my car into the shop).
But, now I'm constantly wondering what time it is because there's no clock in my car anymore. I'm spending more time on the phone b/c I don't have any music. It's a sad day.
My favorite part of the story though is that when I saw all the busted glass in my back seat it was this pretty teal color and I thought, maybe I can do something with that. So I saved some of the glass and ended up gluing it onto a metal frame and making a craft with it. It actually turned out really nicely and I like it a lot. The best part is that I was able to take a negative situation and make something beautiful out of it. I'd like to think that's just the kind of girl I am!!

My Wonderful Husband

What a wonderful Husband I have!! We are approaching our One Year Anniversary! I can't believe it! This has been the fastest year ever and yet it seems like we have been married forever. I am so incredibly blessed to have met and married the perfect man so early in life! Everyday I am reminded in the little things that Joshua is perfect for me! Josh continually amazes me with his patience and unconditional love that he displays toward me everyday! I'm blessed to have him in my life.
